The Virginia Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner Coordination Program at the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) was established in 2020 through the Code of Virginia § 9.1-191.

The DCJS Sexual Assault Forensic Services Coordinator works with forensic nursing programs around the Commonwealth of Virginia to enhance, expand, and increase the visibility of sexual assault forensic nursing programs, which are an important and vital part of our communities’ efforts to treat and heal the trauma associated with sexual violence.
