Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Program Professional Standards

The Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Program Professional Standards are voluntary accreditation standards and measures by which sexual and domestic violence programs can be evaluated.  This site provides information to any sexual and/or domestic violence program interested in becoming an accredited sexual violence, domestic violence, or dual program agency.  Below is the link to the Professional Standards Manual. To begin this process, please read the Manual thoroughly.

Professional Standards Manual for Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Programs

If, after reading the Manual, you wish to apply for accreditation, your agency should complete the Professional Standards Organizational Self-Assessment to determine your agency's readiness for the application process.  If, after doing so, you feel that your agency is prepared to move forward, you may submit a Professional Standards Organizational Self-Assessment Summary to sdvstandards@dcjs.virginia.gov.  Both of these documents are provided below.

Please note that Organizational Self-Assessment Summaries may only be submitted during the time periods that are announced by the Professional Standards Team.   Out of the agencies that submit Organizational Self-Assessment Summaries, up to 20 will be randomly selected to apply for accreditation during a particular round.

The Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Program Professional Standards Operations Coordinator is available to help sexual and domestic violence programs preparing to become accredited at any time during the process.  The Operations Coordinator can provide technical assistance and support.  Contact DCJS's Professional Standards Team for more information or to request assistance.

The Virginia Sexual and Domestic Violence Program Professional Standards Compliance Coordinator will conduct site visits for sexual and domestic violence programs seeking accreditation.  The Compliance Coordinator is also able to provide technical assistance and support.  The Compliance Coordinator may also be reached via the DCJS Professional Standards Team email address.
