Chief Angela M. Greene
 
Chief Angela Greene is a dedicated law enforcement executive with over two decades of public service in Virginia municipalities. Chief Greene is an African American female born to immigrant parents in Union, New Jersey. She is also a mother of three children, a 17-year-old daughter, 23-year-old daughter and a 27-year-old son who is currently a Chesapeake, Virginia firefighter.
 
Chief Greene began her law enforcement career in 2001 when she joined the City of Richmond Police Department where she moved through the ranks achieving the position of Captain.
 
In 2016, Chief Greene was appointed Assistant Chief of Police for the City of Portsmouth Police Department. As the Assistant Chief of Police in Portsmouth she oversaw Uniform Patrol Operations, Special Operations, SWAT, Civil Disturbance Team, Traffic Unit, Street Crimes Unit, School Resource Officers, K9 Unit, Mounted Unit, Marine Patrol Unit, Auxiliary Officers, and Police Chaplains.
 
In 2019, Chief Angela Greene was appointed Chief of Police in the City of Portsmouth where she was responsible for approximately 259 sworn police officers, 20 part-time auxiliary police officers and 75 civilian employees. During Chief Greene’s tenure with the City of Portsmouth, she was instrumental in formulating the vision and implementation of community engagement and crime reduction programs.
 
Currently, Angela Greene serves as the Chief of Police in Lexington, Virginia, where she was appointed in May of 2021. Chief Greene understands the importance of establishing and maintaining collaborative partnerships between public safety and the community she serves.
 
Chief Angela Greene’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Pre-Law and Political Science, a master’s degree in public administration from Old Dominion University and currently pursuing her PhD in Public Administration from Liberty University.
 
Chief Greene also serves on several local boards and commissions, to include an Executive Board Member on the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police and State Board appointee on the Maternal Mortality Review Team.
