The Grant to Encourage Arrest and Enforcement of Protective Orders (GEAP) is a discretionary grant awarded to the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services in October 2001 by the Violence Against Women Office, located in the United States Department of Justice. This federal grant emphasizes a coordinated community response to family violence and includes the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Action Alliance and DCJS.

Purpose of Funds:The purpose of the GEAP is to conduct statewide analysis of domestic violence and sexual assault arrest and protective order enforcement policies. Training and technical assistance is also provided to law enforcement and other agencies across the state.
