Description of Training:
The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services, in partnership with the Virginia Victim Assistance Network, is pleased to announce that registration is now open for A Coordinated Community Response to Non-Fatal Strangulation webinar series.
If you don’t know a crime exists, what are the chances it will be identified, investigated or prosecuted? Join us for a three-part virtual training that challenges current beliefs, practices and policies by teaching participants how to assess for strangulation, recognize non-visible injuries, understand dynamics and motivations of those who strangle, and ensure successful prosecutions of these highly lethal offenders. This multidisciplinary series goes beyond the basics -- addressing non-fatal, intimate partner, and sexually-motivated asphyxiation crimes and will give attendees practical, collaborative tools to transform how their communities identify, investigate, and develop protocols to respond to these dangerous crimes.
