DESCRIPTION
ALERRT and the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services is pleased to announce an ALERRT Active Shooter Response Level 1 – Train the Trainer course. This five-day (40 hours) course includes instructional techniques and methodology for delivering the course; force-on-force scenarios development; safety protocols and procedures; graded participant teach-backs and more.
(A written pre-test and posttest along with graded teach-backs are required)
Intended Audience
PREREQUISITE: Sworn law enforcement officer (preferred: experience in tactical, firearms, and/or law enforcement training)
Required Equipment: Good attitude, open mind, pen and paper, duty gear, body armor, groin protection, and appropriate clothing for “force-on-force” training (e.g. long sleeve shirt, gloves, knee pads etc.), bottled water or hydration system. (Be prepared to bring lunch, drinks, and snacks each day due to training time constraints and availability of food nearby). Secure and safe guard all weapons prior to class entry. An ID will be required during course sign-in. The ID must contain your agency’s information and your picture (no ID – no ENTRY – no EXCEPTIONS.)
NOTE: A laptop or tablet is strongly suggested for reviewing course materials for the teach back portion of the course.
TRAINING TIME AND DETAILS
8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. First day will begin at 7:30 AM
PARTIAL IN-SERVICE CREDIT (PIC)
Upon successful course completion, Partial In-service Credit (PIC) will be available.
TRAVEL, LODGING, MEALS
Participants are responsible for any related and all training expenditures including transportation, lodging, and meals.
REGISTRATION & COST
Pre-registration is required. Training is free.
Please note that the DCJS registration system does not have the capacity to sort eligible from ineligible registrants. Therefore, anyone who registers will receive a confirmation. It is the responsibility of the DCJS – Active Shooter Training Coordinator to review the roster and make a final determination on acceptance into the course. Registrants not accepted will be notified via the email address provided during registration.
