The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is pleased to offer an opportunity to attend a half-day workshop titled “Civilian Response to Active Shooter Event (CRASE).” This course includes the history and prevalence of active shooter events, the role of professional guardians, civilian response options, medical issues, and drills. The objective of CRASE is to aid and enhance schools, colleges, universities, businesses, and community members for direction if they should be confronted with an active shooter event.
This training is being offered at no cost to K-12 school administrators and staff, K-12 central office personnel, school security officers, and law enforcement serving in schools.
Law enforcement officers serving in schools and school security officers who complete this training are eligible to receive partial in-service credit hours.
There is no fee to attend this workshop and all training materials will be provided for registrants.
Participants are responsible for their transportation, meals, and lodging arrangements and expenses.

Training begins at 8:30 am and concludes at 11:30 am
Check-in for training will begin at 12:00 pm
Training begins at 12:30 pm and concludes at 3:30 pm
Pre-registration is required. Please note that the DCJS registration system does not have the capacity to sort eligible from ineligible registrants. Therefore, anyone who registers will receive a confirmation. It is the responsibility of the DCJS assigned course director to review the roster and make a final determination on acceptance into the course. Registrants not accepted will be notified via the email address provided during registration.
