Vehicle Pursuit, Management, and Supervision Program

Course Description:

The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services is pleased to announce a series of one-day training seminars presented by Pursuit Management and Consulting. The "Vehicle Pursuit, Management, and Supervision Program" will inform Police Managers and Supervisors so they will be able to better address issues involving vehicle pursuits, and assist them to better evaluate, develop, and revise policies dealing with pursuits. The course addresses the responsibilities of all involved parties before, during, and after, to include the explosive issue of concluding the pursuit safely. The course also addresses the critical need for training that will insure compliance with pursuit policies.

Topics covered in the training:

  • Pursuit Philosophies and Policy
  • Pursuit Policy Training
  • Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Officer Response to Critical Incident Stress
  • Pursuit After-Action Reports and Procedures.

Length of training:

One day (8 hours)

Prerequisite:

Attendees must be employed in law enforcement or related positions that require knowledge of the subject matter. Attendees should be in a command or supervisor position within their agency.

Mr. Gary Wade, Pursuit Management and Consulting, formerly with Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, Driver and Marine Division, Glynco, GA.

Partial in-service credit

Virginia Law Enforcement officers will receive partial in-service credit for this training.
