The Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) is pleased to announce “Physical Resilience for First Responders”.
This multi-instructor full day course will engage participants in developing a foundation of knowledge in key areas of physical resilience to include nutrition, nervous system regulation, and present tools to reduce stress, increase physical performance, and lessen the discomforts and physical impacts of public safety professions. Support for this training is provided by the Byrne/Justice Assistance Grant Training Program.
The first half of the day will focus on fueling resiliency, drawing connections between nutrition, mental acuity, physical recovery, sleep, and more. The instructor will present insights into the impact our foods have on our professional performance and personal health.
The day will conclude with a presentation and practice of modalities such Yin yoga, breathwork, PMR (Progressive Muscle Relaxation) and iRest© meditation to support first responders on and off the job, while addressing PTS, anxiety, sleep disruption and pain mitigation.
